Softball Recap: La Porte Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for La Porte, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They put the hurt on the Glenn Falcons with a sharp 16-0 win on Monday. With that victory, the Slicers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Mia Maxel made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, La Porte got a massive performance out of Madi Squire, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave Squire a new career-high. Shayla Sorg was another key player, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.

La Porte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

La Porte's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Glenn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

La Porte has already played their next game, a 19-4 victory against Michigan City on the 15th. As for Glenn, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 18-13 defeat against Concord on the 15th.
