Mission Valley Top Player Performances of the Week

A Season-Best  Effort from  Matthew Medina Leads South El Monte over Gabrielino
 On Thursday, South El Monte got the W thanks in part to  Matthew Medina playing the best football he has all season. Medina wasn't messing around, throwing for 366 yards and five touchdowns while completing 79.3% of his passes. The  match was his fourth straight with three or   more passing touchdowns.
 The  win (which was South El Monte's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3. Medina and South El Monte will face off against Arroyo at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.

  Michael Valencia put up the most  rushing yards he's  had since back in September of 2023 on Thursday. He made two total tackles and defended a pass. He also  punched in two  rushing touchdowns, which is notable because South El Monte is undefeated when he posts  at  least  two  rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

Weisbrod Posts Huge Game in  42-15  Loss
 While Rosemead might've come up empty  on Thursday,  Frankie Weisbrod wasn't going down without a fight. Weisbrod was dynamite, rushing for 89 yards on only five carries, while also throwing for 233 yards  on 13 of 23 attempts.
 Rosemead has  been struggling recently as they've  lost five of their last six games,  which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record  this season. Weisbrod and Rosemead are on the road again  on Friday to play Gabrielino at 7:00  p.m.

Romeo Arevalo Makes Top Five
 Rounding off our Top Five is  Romeo Arevalo of Arroyo. Arevalo rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 57 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
 Arroyo's win was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 5-4. Arevalo and Arroyo will be playing at home against South El Monte  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
