Soccer Recap: Ray Comes Up Short

Ray managed to keep up with Gregory-Portland until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Ray Texans came up short against the Gregory-Portland Wildcats, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Texans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Wildcats are ranked 115th).

The defeat snapped Ray's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-6 record. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those three matchups. As for Gregory-Portland, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ray will face off against King at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gregory-Portland, they will be playing at home against Alice at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
