Volleyball Game Preview: Lincolnview Lancers vs. Defiance Bulldogs

The Lincolnview Lancers will head out to face off against the Defiance Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Monday, Lincolnview came up short against New Knoxville and fell 3-1. The Lancers have struggled against the Rangers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Lincolnview couldn't get the win, but they sure gave New Knoxville a tough time in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 30-28, 25-21, 28-26.

Beth Hughes put forth a good effort for the losing side as she had 17 digs and three assists. She has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Monday. Defiance narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Celina 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Defiance has posted against Celina since September 27, 2018.

Defiance took Celina into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 25-11, 23-25, 25-17, 15-13.

Lincolnview's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Defiance, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season.

Lincolnview took their victory against Defiance in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
