Recap: University City Centurions vs. Canyon Crest Academy Ravens
There's no place like home for the University City Centurions, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They took down Canyon Crest Academy 58-42 on Wednesday. Given University City's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Canyon Crest Academy is ranked 630th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ben Gavani, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Luca Anzaldua bertholdo was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
University City's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University City will take on Hoover at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hoover and University City are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they will be playing at home against Del Lago Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Del Lago Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 229 points over their last three matchups.
