Baseball Recap: Berkeley Victorious

Berkeley saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Miramonte Matadors by a score of 8-5.

Simon Scurlock looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Berkeley's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Arson Ormsby, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Isaiah Mays was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

The win got Berkeley back to even at 6-6. As for Miramonte, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Berkeley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-1 loss against Acalanes on the 2nd. As for Miramonte, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 victory against Freedom on the 2nd.
