Midstate Homeschool is a perfect 5-0 against Brighton since January of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Storm will host the Bengals at 7:20 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Midstate Homeschool is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Storm took a blow against Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool, falling 75-44. The loss continues a trend for the Storm in their meetings with Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite their defeat, Midstate Homeschool saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. CJ Malley, who posted nine points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Lonsberry, who put up eight points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Brighton was beaten by Christian Home Educators Fellowship 62-16 on Tuesday. The game marked the Bengals' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Like Midstate Homeschool, Brighton lost despite seeing results from several players. Davis Wolfe led the charge by putting up ten points.
Midstate Homeschool's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Brighton, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Midstate Homeschool has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 38.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Brighton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Midstate Homeschool against Brighton in their previous meeting back in February, as the team secured a 62-26 win. Will the Storm repeat their success, or do the Bengals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
