Soccer Game Preview: Burroughs vs. Apple Valley

The Burroughs Burros are taking a road trip to challenge the Apple Valley Sun Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Burroughs' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Burroughs came up short against Oak Hills on Thursday, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, the Burros can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 720th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Apple Valley hadn't done well against Hesperia recently (they were 0-8-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Apple Valley never let Hesperia onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sun Devils.

Emmanuel Ramirez and Jorge Valle scored both of Apple Valley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Apple Valley's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8-4. As for Burroughs, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12-2.

Burroughs came out on top in a nail-biter against Apple Valley when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Burroughs since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
