Softball Recap: St. Michaels Takes a Loss

After flying high against Washington on Wednesday, St. Michaels came back down to earth. The Saints came up short against the Kent Island Buccaneers on Thursday, falling 13-4. If the Saints were looking for revenge after losing 15-5 to the Buccaneers when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kaelyn Hicks was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Burkhardt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

St. Michaels has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Kent Island, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. St. Michaels is set to face off against their familiar foe Easton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Kent Island will take on rival North Dorchester at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
