Softball Game Preview: Trinity Prep Lions vs. Covington Academy Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Trinity Prep will face off against Covington Academy. The Lions will take on the Bulldogs on Thursday. Trinity Prep has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Trinity Prep heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Monday. They came up short against Covington Academy, falling 16-2. The Lions have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

For Covington Academy's part, Bryleigh Bragg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Bragg has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Covington Academy got a massive performance out of Peyton Ledoux, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave Ledoux a new career-high in RBI (four). Ryleigh Marks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Covington Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Covington Academy and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Trinity Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
