Football Preview: Cardinal Newman Crusaders vs. Jesuit Tigers        
        
		
             The Cardinal Newman Crusaders will square off against the Jesuit Tigers at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. Cardinal Newman knows how to get  points on the board -- the  team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Jesuit likes a good challenge.
 Cardinal Newman's defense heads into the  contest  hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed  on Friday. They blew past Clewiston 48-0 at home. Given the Crusaders' advantage  in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings  (they are ranked 21st, while the Tigers are ranked 350th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
  Jyron Hughley continued  his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 276 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.  Leslie Mosley also helped out with an impressive 80  receiving yards.
 Meanwhile,  winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better  (just ask Jesuit). They blew past Blake, posting  a  45-8 win at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Tigers just coasted through the last quarter.
  Will Griffin 2026 Qb was  his usual excellent self, throwing for 206 yards and six touchdowns on only 17 passes.  Trent Teeling did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 80 receiving yards.
 Cardinal Newman's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Jesuit,  the  win  got them back to even at 2-2.
