Baseball Recap: Carver Birmingham Wins Going Away Against Midfield

Carver Birmingham won the last time they faced Midfield and things went their way on Monday too. The Rams blew past the Patriots 14-4. Considering the Rams have won 11 games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Dejalin Woodside was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Carver Birmingham is 5-0-1 when Woodside allows one or fewer earned runs, but 10-12 otherwise. Woodside was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ezekiel Woodside, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Carver Birmingham: the team is 8-2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Scott, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Carver Birmingham and bumps their season record up to 15-12-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Midfield, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carver Birmingham will host Wenonah at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.16 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Midfield, they will challenge Parker at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
