Basketball Recap: Stamford's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Sunday

On Sunday, the Stamford Black Knights beat the Hudson Bluehawks 55-45. Given the Black Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 40th in Connecticut, while the Bluehawks are ranked 203rd in New York), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jordan Sutton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Guinta, who posted 12 points.

Hudson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Keith Robinson, who went 8 for 19 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds, and Gannon Logue, who scored nine points. Robinson's morning made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jason Francis, who put up seven points.

The win got Stamford back to even at 5-5. As for Hudson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-2.

Stamford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-49 victory against Danbury on the 21st. As for Hudson, they will welcome La Salle Institute at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hudson is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), La Salle Institute a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
