Football Recap: Harker Heights Victorious

Harker Heights's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 win over the Midway Panthers. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Jaylen Mason was his usual excellent self, rushing for 156 yards and one score while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 110.2 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Hudson Humble, who threw for 203 yards and one touchdown while completing 82.6% of his passes.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lathan Whisenton, who rushed for 79 yards and a pair of TDs. Whisenton has been hot recently, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Andrew McNair was another key player, throwing for 127 yards and one touchdown.

Harker Heights now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Midway, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
