Baseball Game Preview: Salem Blue Devils vs. Winnacunnet Warriors

The Salem Blue Devils will take on the Winnacunnet Warriors on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Salem is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Londonderry, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted against the Lancers since June 2, 2016.

Meanwhile, Winnacunnet faced Goffstown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Warriors skirted past the Grizzlies 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Salem has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Winnacunnet, they now have a winning record of 12-11-1.

Salem beat Winnacunnet 6-2 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
