Basketball Recap: Sumrall Comes Up Short

Sumrall suffered their biggest defeat since November 12th on Thursday. They lost 60-35 to the Richton Rebels. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2020.

Despite the loss, Sumrall still got an impressive performance from Ella Robertson, who posted 22 points and seven rebounds. The contest was Robertson's fifth in a row with at least ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Richton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nylah Robins, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Robins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rakhiya Moody, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Sumrall's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Richton, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Sumrall wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-43 victory against West Marion on the 10th. As for Richton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-46 win against Purvis on the 6th.
