Softball Recap: Salem Takes a Loss

Salem managed to slip by Brookhaven the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Salem Wildcats came up short against the Brookhaven Panthers on Thursday, falling 9-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Salem saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kynleigh Eggan, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Salem has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. The victory made it two in a row for Brookhaven and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Salem will face off against Forrest County Agricultural at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Forrest County Agricultural has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something Salem will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Brookhaven, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Loyd Star at 8:30 a.m. on March 15th. Loyd Star is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
