Basketball Recap: Tyriana Martin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Calhoun over Stanhope Elmore

The matchup between Calhoun and Stanhope Elmore on Tuesday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Calhoun Tigers received a blow as they fell 66-47 to the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs. The Tigers just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Calhoun lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tyriana Martin, who posted 19 points and four steals. That's the most steals Martin has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Timmons, who put up eight points.

Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Stanhope Elmore, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.

Calhoun will look to defend their home court on Friday against Blacksher at 6:00 p.m. As for Stanhope Elmore, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 55-38 loss against Wetumpka on the 9th.
