Baseball Recap: St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. John's Northwestern Military Academy can now relate to. They fell 6-2 to the Pius XI Catholic Popes on Thursday. The Lancers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Popes earlier this season, when they won 10-8.

David Schroettner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six earned runs on eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Matthias Ericksen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13. As for Pius XI Catholic, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-15.

As of now, neither St. John's Northwestern Military Academy nor the Popes have any future games scheduled.
