Baseball Recap: Edmonson County Wins Going Away Against Caverna

Edmonson County came into Monday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They never let the Caverna Colonels get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Monday. The match marked the Wildcats' most dominant win of the season.

Garrett Lyons made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Edmonson County is 2-1 when Lyons posts two or more runs, but 4-10-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Drew Pierce was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Eli Meredith, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Edmonson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Edmonson County's victory bumped their record up to 6-11-1. As for Caverna, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.
