Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Lions vs. Boulder Creek Jaguars

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Liberty Lions take on the Boulder Creek Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday... Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Liberty took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They snuck past Centennial with an 88-84 win. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Coyotes are ranked 97th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Boulder Creek came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Champions by a score of 66-54.

Boulder Creek has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.

Liberty was able to grind out a solid win over Boulder Creek in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 76-67. Will Liberty repeat their success, or does Boulder Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
