Basketball Game Preview: Bear Creek Grizzlies vs. Olympic Trojans

The Bear Creek Grizzlies will square off against the Olympic Trojans at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bear Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.5 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, Bear Creek was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-44 to King's. The contest marked the Grizzlies' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Bear Creek got top-tier performance from Caleb Branch, who went 9 of 14 en route to 23 points. Branch's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Max Beiber, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Olympic). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Kingston 75-43. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Olympic has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Bear Creek, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.
