Basketball Recap: MacArthur Takes a Loss

The MacArthur Mammoths were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 56-52 to the Collegium Charter Cougar. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mammoths came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 32nd in District of Columbia, while the Cougar are ranked 594th in Pennsylvania).

MacArthur has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Collegium Charter, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-12 record.

Coming up, MacArthur won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Calvert Hall at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for Collegium Charter, they will head out to challenge Plumstead Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
