Baseball Game Preview: Overlea Falcons vs. Carver A&T Wildcats

The Overlea Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Carver A&T Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Overlea will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Overlea is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Milford Mill Academy with a sharp 25-3 win on Thursday. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Millers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Carver A&T came up short against Chesapeake on Thursday and fell 12-9.

Trevor Schnirel put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off five hits. Schnirel was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mason Wehrheim stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Landen Gendimenico was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.

Overlea's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Carver A&T, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Overlea took their victory against Carver A&T in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. Does Overlea have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carver A&T turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
