After a string of five wins, Christopher's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Pioneer Mustangs by a score of 3-2. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 4-1.

Matthew Anderson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Christopher saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Vasquez, who scored a run while going 1-for-5.

Christopher's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-5. As for Pioneer, their record is now 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christopher will venture away from home to face off against Gilroy at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pioneer, they will head out to square off against Menlo-Atherton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
