Volleyball Recap: Holy Name Takes a Loss

If Holy Name was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Beaumont School last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Green Wave fell 3-1 to the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions on Tuesday. The Green Wave have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Holy Name started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-14, 26-24, 25-15.

When it comes to explaining why Holy Name lost, don't look at Hayden Wells. Despite the final result, she had 22 digs and five assists. Wells has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more digs the last four times she's played. Skylar Chmielewski also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Holy Name's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8.

Holy Name didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Padua Franciscan on the 9th. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Lake Catholic on the 9th.
