Baseball Recap: Westmont Takes a Loss

Westmont had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-20-1 to make it five. They came up short against the Willow Glen Rams, falling 8-2. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Westmont saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kainoa Raub, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Willow Glen, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 19-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.

On Willow Glen's side, Dante Pini looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Pini has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tommy Moran, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Austin Korba, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

While Westmont had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
