Basketball Recap: Mason County Takes a Loss

Mason County was the 76-65 winner over Montgomery County when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Mason County Royals took a blow against the Montgomery County Indians on Saturday, falling 82-42. The game marked the Royals' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Leading Montgomery County to victory were Tyce Jarvis and Luke Fawns. Jarvis posted 15 points along with eight assists and eight boards, while Fawns went 7 of 10 en route to 19 points. Fawns' afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cayden Reed, who put up nine points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Mason County's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Montgomery County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mason County will square off against Augusta at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Montgomery County, they will be playing at home against Powell County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Montgomery County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.2 points per game this season.
