Football Game Preview: North Salinas Vikings vs. Monterey Dores

The North Salinas Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Monterey Dores at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Salinas will be strutting in after a victory while Monterey will be coming in after a loss.

North Salinas took a 28-point defeat the last time they faced off against Hollister, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Haybalers 13-10. Those 13 points were actually the fewest the Vikings have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Meanwhile, Monterey came up short against Alisal on Thursday, falling 62-40. The Dores have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The win made it two in a row for North Salinas and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.5 points over those games. As for Monterey, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

North Salinas was taken down by Monterey 50-16 in their previous matchup back in September of 2022. Thankfully for the Vikings, Preston White (who threw for 214 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 94 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries) won't be suiting up this time.
