Baseball Recap: Claremont Wins Going Away Against Diamond Bar

Claremont had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Diamond Bar on Tuesday. The Wolfpack blew past the Brahmas 8-2. The Wolfpack not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 15-0).

Thomas Plotkin was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Claremont is undefeated when Plotkin posts two or more runs, but 6-12-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Porras, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Aiden Leslie was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Claremont's victory bumped their record up to 11-12-1. As for Diamond Bar, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-20.

Claremont will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Brahmas: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
