Baseball Recap: Cape Fear Wins Going Away Against South View

Cape Fear never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against South View on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won seven in a row.

Caden Jeffrey was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Cape Fear let Brody Jackson and Landon Underwood run wild. Jackson went 3-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base, while Underwood got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most hits Jackson has posted since back in March. Chris Serbio was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Cape Fear kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South View only managed five hits.

Cape Fear's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for South View, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cape Fear will welcome Douglas Byrd at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Colts are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for South View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jack Britt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
