Softball Recap: West Jefferson Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

West Jefferson barely beat West Liberty-Salem the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Roughriders put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 9-3 win on Monday. Fans of the Roughriders have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Jenna Mannon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zoey Brown, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Kimberly Warnock was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

West Jefferson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

West Jefferson pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for West Liberty-Salem, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

West Jefferson will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
