Baseball Game Preview: Papillion-LaVista Monarchs vs. Millard North Mustangs

The Papillion-LaVista Monarchs are taking a road trip to take on the Millard North Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Papillion-LaVista is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 12-7 win over Burke on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Easton Schneider was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Luke Bennett was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Papillion-LaVista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Millard North entered their tilt with Bellevue East on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Chieftains 7-0. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Millard North pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Papillion-LaVista, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Papillion-LaVista came out on top in a nail-biter against Millard North in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Does Papillion-LaVista have another victory up their sleeve, or will Millard North turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
