Softball Recap: Alexander Spartans vs. Athens Bulldogs
Alexander was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 19-6 to the Athens Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-3 on April 15th.
Alexander saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Hudnall, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI were Hudnall's first of the season. Maddie Brookins was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Alexander's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Athens, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Alexander will challenge rival Wellston at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Athens is set to square off against their familiar foe River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
