Preview: Silverado Skyhawks vs. Sierra Vista Mountain Lions

Two dominant guards in Timia Thomas and Donnayja Gibson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Silverado Skyhawks will be playing at home against the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Friday, Silverado was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 39-34 to Cimarron-Memorial. Silverado has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Thomas, who scored two points along with ten rebounds and eight steals. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Kingsley Jones, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Sierra Vista entered their tilt with Doral Academy Red Rock with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Sierra Vista blew past Doral Academy Red Rock, posting a 52-19 win at home. Given Sierra Vista's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Doral Academy Red Rock is ranked 101st), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Silverado's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Sierra Vista, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Silverado lost to Sierra Vista at home by a decisive 46-31 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will Silverado have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
