Basketball Recap: Oakridge Owls vs. Temple Christian Eagles
It was a Battle of the Birds when Oakridge challenged Temple Christian on Saturday. The Oakridge Owls fell 54-47 to the Temple Christian Eagles. The Owls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2018.
Several Owls players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Robinson, who went 7 for 13 en route to 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Dees, who posted nine points and six steals.
Even though they lost, Oakridge was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Temple Christian only racked up seven assists.
Temple Christian found their leader in sophomore Jessie Dejesus, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 24 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Grant Walker, who went 6 for 11 en route to 17 points.
Oakridge's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Temple Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.
Oakridge has already played their next contest (against Trinity Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Temple Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 60-45 victory against Lake Country Christian on the 10th.
