Softball Recap: Matawan Regional Comes Up Short

Matawan Regional managed to slip by Howell the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Huskies lost 12-1 to the Rebels on Monday. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Elyssa Jamandron was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Matawan Regional has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Howell, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7.

Looking ahead, Matawan Regional will face off against South Plainfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Howell, they will venture away from home to square off against Pinelands Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Rebels' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
