Football Recap: Troup Tigers vs. Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls
With a playoff game on the line, Troup rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls, posting a 35-6 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 29 points or more this season.
Bryce Wallum was his usual excellent self, rushing for 198 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 96 yards and a touchdown on only nine passes. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 89-yard run. Troup also got a significant boost from Brett Wells, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 115 yards.
Troup was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 343 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.
Troup didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Louis Daniels and Wallum. Wallum continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
The win was the third in a row for Troup, bringing their record for this year to 8-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points per game. As for Anderson-Shiro, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
Troup will head out on the road to challenge De Kalb at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (De Kalb has won four straight at home, while Troup won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Anderson-Shiro does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
