Basketball Recap: Coronado Comes Up Short

Coronado lost against Plainview back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Coronado Mustangs took a 54-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plainview Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 132nd).

Coronado has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-20 record this season. As for Plainview, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-12.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Caprock the next time they take the court. Coronado will host Caprock at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Plainview will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
