Softball Recap: Winthrop Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Winthrop's offense. They lost 8-0 to the Swampscott Big Blue on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Winthrop saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deanna Nee, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Winthrop's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Swampscott, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Winthrop will face off against Gloucester at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Fishermen's pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Swampscott, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Lynn Classical at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
