Rivera kept a clean sheet against Edcouch-Elsa on Friday. They won by a goal and slipped past the Yellowjackets 1-0. Given Rivera's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Edcouch-Elsa are ranked 356th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rivera's one-goal win came courtesy of Alyssa Sayas, which was the first she's scored this season.

Rivera's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Edcouch-Elsa, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1-1.

Rivera wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Lopez on the 20th. As for Edcouch-Elsa, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-3 win against Pace on the 20th.
