Baseball Recap: Apache Junction Extends Road Winning Streak to Six

Apache Junction entered their tilt with Globe on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Tigers. That's two games straight that the Prospectors have won by exactly five runs.

Austin Sherman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Apache Junction's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Hunsaker, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. With that strong performance, Hunsaker is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Aidan Mead was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Apache Junction's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Globe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Coincidentally, Apache Junction and Globe will both be playing Coolidge the next time they take the field. The Prospectors will head out to face the Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Tigers will host them at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th.
