Baseball Recap: St. Helena's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

St. Helena extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 17-6 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Fort Bragg Timberwolves. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-5 back in April.

Dean Sommer was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

As for Fort Bragg, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-4. The defeat was just more heartbreak for they who fell 7-5 when the teams previously met back in May of 2024.

On Fort Bragg's side, Giancarlo Diaz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run. Jacob Hendricks also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Looking ahead, St. Helena will face off against Upper Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Fort Bragg, they will challenge Kelseyville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Timberwolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
