Football Game Preview: Eastern Wayne Warriors vs. Anson Bearcats + Official Tickets

The Eastern Wayne Warriors will take on the Anson Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Anson is facing Eastern Wayne at the wrong time: Eastern Wayne suffered their first home loss of the season on Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 47-24. The Warriors gained 94 more yards on the day, but it was the Eagles that made the best use of them.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Izeiah Oates and DJ Davis. Davis had a great game and threw for 248 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 passes. Meanwhile, Oates was balling out in the loss, throwing for 176 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 147 yards while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, Anson came into Friday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Parkwood 22-20.

Eastern Wayne better keep an eye on Tasean Harris. He was instrumental in Anson's win, rushing for 107 yards and a pair of scores.

Anson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 194 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Eastern Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Anson, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Eastern Wayne has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 182.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Anson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 272.5 rushing yards.
