Independence finds home court redemption against Piedmont Hills

There's no place like home for the Independence 76ers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Saturday. They slipped by Piedmont Hills 55-54 on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Independence, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

It was another big night for Joshua Villanueva, who scored 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Independence's points. Ethan Gualberto was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Piedmont Hills, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Independence won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cupertino at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. Cupertino presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Independence in California (Cupertino is ranked 152nd, while Independence is ranked 925th). As for Piedmont Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against Harker at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
