Baseball Game Preview: La Joya Community Fighting Lobos vs. Central Bobcats

La Joya Community has gone a perfect 3-0 against Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The La Joya Community Fighting Lobos will square off against the Central Bobcats at 3:45 p.m. La Joya Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

La Joya Community is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 13-2 margin over Metro Tech on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Lobos.

Cayson Hamrick made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Saul Chairez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Carlos Maldonado also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

La Joya Community was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 14-0 to Copper Canyon.

The win got La Joya Community back to even at 4-4. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: La Joya Community hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've only averaged .188. Will they be able to contain La Joya Community's hitters?

La Joya Community was able to grind out a solid victory over Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 15-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Joya Community since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
