Basketball Recap: Hodgson Vo-Tech Finds Playoff Glory Versus Delmarva Christian

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hodgson Vo-Tech had no problem doing just that on Monday. They walked away with a 39-32 win over the Delmarva Christian Royals. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Delaware basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Royals are ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marissa Isbell was nothing short of spectacular: she on her way to 14 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in each of the last three games she's played. Hope Smith was another key player, putting up eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

The victory was the third in a row for Hodgson Vo-Tech, bringing their record for this year to 14-7. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.0 points over those games. As for Delmarva Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6.

Coming up, Hodgson Vo-Tech will head out on the road to face off against Caravel at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Cherish Bryant and Smith. Delmarva Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
