After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kalamazoo Central, Watervliet was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the River Valley Mustangs 16-6. Considering the Panthers have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Watervliet let Emmett Williams and Jacob Querfurth run wild. Williams went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Querfurth went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Williams has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Ryan, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Watervliet was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
