Baseball Recap: St. Maries Lumberjacks vs. Kellogg Wildcats

St. Maries had lost ten straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-14 to make it 11. They lost 14-4 to the Kellogg Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent defeat being a 12-1 loss on Saturday.

Kaiden Morris made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Holmes, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Kellogg, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Kellogg's side, Talon Clark looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The Wildcats are 3-1 when Clark allows one or fewer earned runs, but 0-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Alex Cassidy was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Kyle VanVleet also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
