Baseball Game Preview: East Iberville Tigers vs. Ascension Christian

East Iberville hasn't had much luck against Ascension Christian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will welcome Ascension Christian at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Monday, East Iberville made easy work of North Iberville and carried off a 19-5 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Noah Cushenberry was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. East Iberville is undefeated when Cushenberry posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kade Cantrelle, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Ascension Christian came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Lions as they made off with a 16-1 win.

Ascension Christian's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for East Iberville, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-8.
